Meet Our Team: Jeremiah Tan

Jeremiah Tan [pictured above], joined GivingData to combine his two passions: technology and helping others. Through his role as a Client Success Manager, Jeremiah has created a lasting impact through his relationship-building and guiding GivingData users to drive positive change.

What inspired you to join GivingData?

High school gave me a taste of social entrepreneurship during an internship at a startup, and it clicked—I love tech, and I love helping people. GivingData felt like the spot where those worlds collide. Purpose-driven, great software, and a chance to work with folks who are passionate about positive change and impact – what else could I ask for?

What did you learn from your previous customer success roles that you hope to bring to the GivingData community?

The biggest lesson is that I'm not just a client success manager; I'm a thought partner, a strategic ally, and an advocate for my clients. Building strong relationships based on transparency and honesty is key. I want our interactions to feel like a partnership where we learn from each other. The more we understand each other, the more effective and helpful I can be to my clients and the GivingData community as a whole.

What does philanthropy mean to you?
To me, philanthropy is just a more strategic approach to collective social responsibility. It embodies the recognition of shared humanity and a commitment to effecting positive change, which often requires a catalyst.

What’s been the most rewarding part of your GivingData experience so far?

The most rewarding aspect has been the people—both within my amazing team as well as my clients. Working with a group that shares the same passion for making a difference, and a work environment that promotes collaboration instead of competition, keeps me motivated, supported, and excited for the work I’m doing. I also feel heard and feel that I can talk to anyone on the team. On the client side, hearing about their projects and the impact they’re making makes the job worthwhile — it's a constant reminder of the positive change we're collectively a part of.

What one piece of advice would you give a new member of our team?

Be yourself. While it's important to have a shared mission and vision as a company, it's the individuals and their unique experiences, skill sets, and perspectives that drive it. Plus, everyone on the team is so friendly and welcoming!

What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time?

I love spending time with my fiancée, our two cats, and our dog! I'm happiest when I'm with them, regardless of what we're doing. I also love going to the gym, listening to music, and being outdoors — my bucket list includes visiting every national park. I also watch a lot of TV and movies. I'm a self-proclaimed Survivor superfan and a sports fanatic - go Angels and Rams!
